DIY : How To Bring Back Spring In Autumn

It is the time of the year when lush green leaves turn to hues of orange, brown and gold in preparation for the cooler seasons. Life becomes more like a camera effect – old, nostalgic and in sepia mode. People start wearing scarves, boots and trench coats in shades of black, brown and gray. But who says the perfect color scheme for the autumn season is locked up within those basic colors? Who says you can’t have a piece of bright and vibrant color in between the safe tones? Who says flowers should be absent during the fall?

With the proper selection of plants to garden in your backyard or on window boxes, you can give life to your house by adding a little bit of color.

White and Lavender

The colors are subtle – not too bright and eye-catching, yet still pleasing to the eyes. These colors can best be provided by Pansies. Although Pansies vary in many colors, the white and violet hues are very unique distinctions. They can pretty much survive in cooler temperatures given the proper watering and caring of the plants. Pansies survive best in less crowded arrangements.

Purple and Yellow

Aside from the twist the complimentary colors of Alyssums can give your home, it can also emit a certain scent that makes spring more of a tangible and approachable experience than it actually is. Alyssums are easy to grow and can survive in the driest of soils.  Watering must also be done twice a week, and the soil fertilization should be done once a month. Its fragrance and colors can indeed change the aura of your home.

Pink and Peach

Laid out in a variety of pastel colors, Chrysanthemums are perfect to give your home some kind of feminine touch. Selecting the pink and peach floral color scheme, one can easily achieve that dainty and girly look for your house – although other colors are also available. Chrysanthemums can survive recurrently in a year. They must be regularly watered and must be exposed to the sun for at least a few hours in a day.

Orange and Red

On the other hand, if you are much of the opposite of dainty, take some Snapdragons in your fall window boxes for some fiery hues. From the name itself, it needs some sunlight coverage for warmth in order to give back the brightness it possesses. It would be best to plant Snapdragons on moist yet well-drained soil.
